COLUMBIA CITY — A new regional project, the Our Story Project, sought public input to help change the way residents speak about Northeast Indiana.

Workshops were held in Whitley County in September and continue in all 10 counties within the region this week and next.

Public participation helps to establish the region’s reputation, with themes including who we are, where we are going as a region and what Northeast Indiana will be known for.

With key messages defined, peo ple and organizations throughout Northeast Indiana will be able to tell a unified story about the re gion.

“We are excited about this proj ect to gather input from the local community and thankful to everyone who participated in the first Our Story workshop last month in Columbia City,” said Whitley County Economic Development Corporation President Alan Tio. “We raised the bar for the second session by setting a goal to double participation, which provides an opportunity to welcome new per spectives into this important dis cussion.”

The workshops consist of inter active, proprietary exercises aimed at building and refining Northeast Indiana’s story and conducted in two phases.

The first phase of workshops fo cused on discovering the region’s personality, while the second phase of workshops will center on the messages used to talk about the region.

The second workshop in Whitley County was held Wednesday at Parkview Whitley Hospital.
