Shindigz parties at new digs

Shindigz Place is official.
One of the country's largest party supply companies, Shindigz on Friday celebrated the grand opening of its new corporate headquarters in downtown Fort Wayne with Mayor Tom Henry and others.
Shindigz Place is in a historic building – formerly called Harrison Place – on the southeast corner of Wayne and Harrison streets. The headquarters is home to more than 50 employees. The company, according to a news release, expects to add dozens more skilled professionals to its headquarters team as a result of its relocation to downtown.
Shindigz, an online and catalog retailer, ships throughout the U.S. and to more than 50 countries. It employs about 250 people and has more than 200,000 square feet of manufacturing and fulfillment space in South Whitley.
Plans for the downtown location were announced in late July.
“We believe in the momentum taking place downtown, and we're thrilled about continuing to call northeast Indiana home,” Shindigz Chairman and co-owner Shep Moyle said in a statement. “Opening Shindigz Place is the beginning of a new chapter of our story and the story of Fort Wayne as well.”
Shindigz CEO Dan Haight said the company would not disclose the total investment to establish the downtown headquarters, but he called it substantial.
Haight, in a statement, said it's important the company provide employees a “rewarding career in a work environment that's modern, fun and engaging.”
Company co-owner Wendy Moyle said Shindigz wants its presence to go beyond the brick and mortar and is excited about “partnering with local universities on unique programs, as well as with charities and other organizations to continue making our community stronger.”
Shindigz on Friday presented donations of $1,926 each – symbolizing the year the company was founded – to five organizations focused on the city's urban core.
Recipients were Riverfront Fort Wayne, the Downtown Improvement District, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne, Vincent Village, Inc., and Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne.
