Technology Solutions, Inc. expanding in Ashley
March 4, 2014
Ashley, Ind. -- Technology Solutions, Inc., a firm specializing in medical software and archery equipment, announced plans today to expand its operations here, creating up to 26 new jobs by 2016.
The homegrown-Hoosier company will invest $1.89 million to purchase, renovate and equip a 20,280 square-foot facility at 101 Shea Drive in Ashley. The facility is expected to begin operations by this summer.
"Innovative companies like Technology Solutions find their niche in Indiana, free from the restrictive environment they may find in other states," said Eric Doden, president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. "Weve worked for years to build Indiana into a state that works, where regulations and business costs are minimalized, giving companies the freedom to grow here and focus on what they do best."
Technology Solutions, which currently employs 16 full-time Indiana associates, plans to begin hiring social marketers, graphic designers, animators, programmers, sales representatives and warehouse personnel in the coming months. Interested applicants may apply through WorkOne Northeast in Auburn, Ind. or at IndianaCareerConnect.com.
"We chose Indiana over Ohio, where several of our major suppliers are located, primarily because of Indiana’s low-tax business environment, the proximity to our current staff and, with the number of higher learning institutions nearby, the expectation of a well-trained workforce that will help us achieve our goals," said John Jackson, president of Technology Solutions. "We are thankful for the service we have already received from Indiana as well as local agencies and look forward to our continued working partnerships."
Founded in 1998, Technology Solutions, Inc. is the maker of Intelicode®, software for auditing medical records that is used by both individuals and large organizations. The company also specializes in archery equipment, with its Instinct Archery™ line of traditional archery equipment. Instinct Archery™ is also the creator of Archery Tag®, an archery game utilizing foam-tipped arrows, and S.A.F.E. Archery™, a foam-tipped retail archery line. With its growth, the company will continue to utilize Rise, Inc. for product assembly, an Angola, Ind.-based nonprofit agency that provides employment training and rehabilitation services for individuals with disabilities.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Technology Solutions, Inc. up to $125,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $75,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The town of Ashley approved additional incentives at the request of the Steuben County Economic Development Corporation.
"The town of Ashley would like to welcome John Jackson to the town, Steuben County and northeast Indiana," said Don Farrington, president of the Ashley Town Council. "We are excited to welcome a technology-based company to the area. We are looking forward to an extended relationship with the town and the company. We are wishing for them continued success."
Technology Solutions joins the ranks of Steuben County’s network of growing businesses. Late last year Holland, Mich.-based PADNOS and Auburn, Ind.-based Rieke Corporation announced their plans to locate or grow operations in Steuben County, together creating up to 37 new Hoosier jobs by 2016.

Created in 2005 to replace the former Department of Commerce, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation is governed by a 12-member board chaired by Governor Mike Pence. Victor Smith serves as the Indiana Secretary of Commerce and Eric Doden is the president of the IEDC.
The IEDC oversees programs enacted by the General Assembly including tax credits, workforce training grants and public infrastructure assistance. All tax credits are performance-based. Therefore, companies must first invest in Indiana through job creation or capital investment before incentives are paid. A company who does not meet its full projections only receives a percentage of the incentives proportional to its actual investment. For more information about IEDC, visit www.iedc.in.gov.
