Canada-based Techo-Bloc has announced plans to locate its first Indiana facility in DeKalb County and create up to 85 jobs by 2018. The paving stone and patio block manufacturer says it will invest more than $34 million to establish a regional headquarters in Waterloo.

Techo-Bloc says it will renovate and equip an existing dry cast and truck shop. The company also plans to begin construction next week on the facility, which will house production of masonry products, slabs, walls and pillars. Techo-Bloc says the move is being fueled in part by growing demand for its landscape products.

The company employs nearly 500 across eight manufacturing facilities and six distribution centers. It has begun hiring for positions at the dry cast facility and hopes to begin hiring for the wet cast facility by the end of the year.

Techo-Bloc has distribution facilities in Ontario, Ohio, North Carolina and Massachusetts.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered the company up to $500,000 in conditional tax credits and training grants based on the job creation plans. DeKalb County is also considering additional incentives.
