Trine names winners of Innovation Challenge

Trine University has announced the winners of its sixth annual Innovation Challenge. Awards and scholarships for the challenge are funded by a $100,000 gift from Fifth Third Bank, Greater Indiana and were named February 15.
The award winners are:
First place, business division earning a $3,000 prize: H3 Baits by Cale Hall and Chase Hall
Second place earing an $1,000 prize: Origin Hockey by Jordan Smith
Judges' Choice Award for High Potential: Joe & Grow, a coffee pod that can be reused to grow plants by Jasper Bassett
First place, technology division with a $3,000 prize: Back Beat by Doug McGregor
Second place with a $1,000 prize: Secure RFID by Pavan Karra, Ph.D., associate professor in the Wade Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering; Joe Thompson, technician and instructor in the Wade Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering; and Dillon Embry
Judges' Choice Award for High Potential: The Thermo-Glove by Brody Cook and Evan Miller
