WorkOne Northeast sponsors transition seminar for veterans

FORT WAYNE — “Operation: Job Ready Veterans” will conduct a five-day seminar April 11-15 at the WorkOne Northeast career center in Allen County to assist veterans in making a transition to the civilian work force.

The free sessions will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Lunch will be provided. Sessions also are open to eligible spouses of veterans, members of the Indiana National Guard or Reserve, spouses of Guard or Reserve members and military caregivers.
 
“Operation: Job Ready Veterans” is a nonprofit, Indianapolis-based organization dedicated to providing employment training and transition assistance. Among the topics that will be covered during the weeklong activities in Allen County are: identifying career interests, translating skills, developing successful strategies for navigating the job market, interview preparation and coaching, resume preparation and networking.

The week of training and transition assistance will conclude with a graduation ceremony and hiring fair. Two more weeklong sessions will be held in Allen County later this year.

Among the eligibility requirements, participating veterans must have received a discharge other than dishonorable.
