October 11, 2012
News Release
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Two community engagement experts, who've helped counsel and improve cities across the country, will speak in Fort Wayne this fall as part of a summit hosted by the Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI) as an effort to strengthen the city by increasing attachment of young adults in their 20's and 30's.
What: My City Summit: Redefining Community Engagement
When: Friday, November 2
Where: Grand Wayne Center, 1020 South Calhoun Street, Fort Wayne
Speakers include: Peter Kageyama, author of "For The Love of Cities" and Co- founder of Creative Cities Summit and Dr. Katherine Loflin, radio show host of "Place Matters," along with Mayor Tom Henry, Commissioner Nelson Peters and local community leaders.
The Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI) is presenting the summit utilizing a grant from the Knight Foundation's donor-advised Fund administered by the Greater Fort Wayne Community Foundation, after Knight Foundation's Soul of the Community research showed Fort Wayne lacks strong community attachment amongst young college graduates.
Tickets to the event are $25 ($20 for YLNI members) and are available at www.ylni.org/mycitysummit.
