Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC in Huntington has been placed on PACCAR’s list of premier suppliers, something Bendix officials consider an honor.

PACCAR — a heavy vehicle manufacturer — is Bendix’s single largest customer, Mike Pogorelc, Bendix plant manager, said.

Being placed on PACCAR’s premier suppliers list means the supplier has lowered product defects to below 50 parts per million (PPM), according to a press release. Bendix, which has four locations in Huntington, has lowered its PPM to just over 15 PPM.

This means less than 50 products — heavy vehicle truck parts — per million produced at Bendix contain defects that reach the customer, according to the release.

The recognition, Pogorelc said, means Bendix’s largest customer is happy with their quality.

“(It feels) absolutely fantastic,” he said. “Our employees work extremely hard to assure our quality meets our customer expectations and it’s very rewarding to see all those efforts manifest in an award like this.”

“All of Bendix’s manufacturing facilities implement new process controls, employee training and customer teams to address quality issues in its “ongoing drive for quality,” according to the release.

Pogorelc said Bendix keeps its quality high with good quality processes as well as employees who have a “quality attitude.”

“Every individual takes responsibility for their quality,” he said.

Lori Mickley, quality assurance manager for Bendix, said in a release the manufacturer strives to be the customer’s best supplier.

She said in an interview the award recognizes a supplier which “goes above and beyond” in protecting the customer from quality disruptions.

“We do that through collaborations and a positive working relationship with them, to understand what their needs are and being honest about what our capabilities are,” Mickley said in an interview.

Carlos Hungria, chief operating officer at Bendix, said in the release the company is honored to receive the award.

“The facility at Huntington has shown time and time again that delivering the highest-performing, highest-reliability products and services isn’t just a goal, but an expectation,” he said in the release.
