Butler gives tax abatement to Multimatic

A Butler industry received a 10-year tax abatement after announcing plans to bring 23 new jobs as part of a $8 million investment in the community at Monday’s City Council meeting.
Multimatic, 201 R.E. Jones Road, which makes several components for multiple automobile manufacturers, will add roll-forming, robotic welding and assembly equipment to its Butler facility, according to an abatement application submitted by controller Lance Harris. The average hourly wage for the new employees will be $16.50, according to the application.
Acting on a unanimous, affirmative recommendation last week by Butler’s Economic Development Commission, the City Council voted 5-0 to approve the abatement covering the new manufacturing equipment.
