Professionals in the areas of urban design, fashion, graphic design and other creative disciplines are gathering at the Arts United Center the week of May 7 thru 11 for Design Week Fort Wayne.

“By elevating local conversations about design, we can better anticipate and adjust for community growth, mitigate future threats, and become an even more attractive community for investment and relocation,” Dan Swartz, organizer of Design Week Fort Wayne said in an announcement. “It is clear that design goes far beyond concepts of aesthetic beauty, and truly defines the opportunity intrinsic within an object, system, organization and place.”

Swartz is also the owner of Wunderkkamer Company, which is sponsoring the event.

Wunderkammer Company conducted a “Creative Census” research project in 2015, the results of which found that more than 30 percent of Northeast Indiana’s creative economy is within the design fields.

Topics covered during Design Week include societal design, innovation/research and development, architecture, interior design, advertising, graphic design, and fashion. The event will feature guest speakers, workshops, studio and factory tours, and quality networking events developed specifically to “build, connect, and inspire our local creative industries,” the announcement said.

The Arts United Center is located at 303 East Main Street in downtown Fort Wayne.

Ticket prices vary from $10 to $200 and can be purchased through Eventbrite.
