Food Network Leader Wants To Keep Food Local
Northeast Indiana produces $1.4 billion of food products each year, but imports $1.9 billion from outside the area.
The Northeast Indiana Regional Food Network wants to keep some of that food and money in this part of the state, so it conducted a study, with a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, to see how feasible it would be to increase collaboration between food producers and consumers.
In this week’s NorthEATS Indiana, WBOI’s Lisa Ryan spoke with Ryne Krock, the president of the LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation. They talk about what the food network is, the findings of the study, and hopes for the future of agriculture in the region.
