It’s a celebration of African-American freedom, education and achievement.  It’s in honor of Freedom Day/Emancipation Day which dates to 1865.  This year’s event will be held at Weisser Park (3000 Hanna Street) from 2 to 8 p.m.  It will feature performances of poetry, dance, song, storytelling and drumming, a variety of youth activities, a basketball tournament, health screenings, free haircuts, hotdogs and popcorn.  The finale will be a concert in the park that is anticipated to begin at 6:30p.m.  For more information about Weisser Park, click here.

WANE-TV is a proud sponsor of the Juneteenth Celebration.  NewsChannel 15 News Anchor, Terra Brantley will kick off the celebration.
