INDIANAPOLIS -

Seven Hoosier-based corporations are among the 500 largest in the country. Indiana gained two Fortune 500 companies and lost one on this years list.

Indianapolis-based Calumet Specialty Product Partners LP (Nasdaq: CLMT) dropped out of the Fortune 500 this year after being ranked 457th in 2015. Simon Property Group finds itself on this year's list after being off last year, as did Zimmer Biomet Holdings, which entered the Fortune 500 in 2016 following the merger of Zimmer and Biomet that wrapped up in 2015.

Five of the seven Indiana Fortune 500 companies, Anthem, Lilly, Cummins, Simon and Zimmer Biomet increased their standing, while Steel Dynamics and NiSource fell slightly compared to the last ranking.

Indiana companies placed in the following spots:
  • 33. Indianapolis-based Anthem Inc. (NYSE: ANTM) - $79.2 billion in revenue - $2.56 billion profit (up from 38 in 2015)
  • 141. Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE: LLY) - $20 billion in revenue - $2.41 billion profit (up from 151 in 2015)
  • 148. Columbus-based Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) - $19.1 billion in revenue - $1.4 billion profit (up from 154 in 2015)
  • 356. Fort Wayne-based Steel Dynamics Inc. (NYSE: SDI) - $7.6 billion in revenue - $130 million loss (down from 326 in 2015)
  • 431. Warsaw-based Zimmer Biomet Holdings Inc. (NYSE: ZBH) - $6 billion in revenue - $150 million profit (up from 555 in 2015)
  • 483. Merrillville-based NiSource Inc. (NYSE: NI) - $5.3 billion in revenue - $290 million profit (down from 418 in 2015)
  • 488. Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group Inc. (NYSE: SPG) - $5.3 billion in revenue - $1.83 billion profit (up from 519 in 2015)
