John Sampson Selected to Speak at
2013 International Leadership Summit

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - John Sampson, president and CEO of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership has been invited to speak at the International Economic Development Councils (IEDC) 2013 Leadership Summit. This is the first time Sampson and the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership have been asked to speak at this exclusive summit, which brings together hundreds of top decision-making economic development leaders from across the globe to identify and discuss current and emerging trends in economic development and to provide insight into building more effective operations. This year's conference is being held January 27-29 in Orlando, Florida.

Sampson will be speaking on January 29 at a session entitled "The Budget Conundrum: Leveraging Private Funding Sources." This session will focus on how organizations are leveraging private funding sources and what strategies communities are employing to become more competitive and continue to stay relevant.

"The commitment and collaboration of regional leaders from all sectors in Northeast Indiana is truly unique," said Sampson. "It is a privilege to share the benefit of our experience with others. There is no question, we are transforming the region's economy through collaborative leadership and this is a story worth sharing with other communities."

The IEDC Leadership Summit will feature an array of topics including:

  • Responsibilities of Businesses to their Communities
  • Mergers and Privatization of Economic Development Organizations and Services
  • Fostering New Prospects in the International Marketplace
  • Business and Education Partnerships
  • Evolving Nature of Today's Workforce
  • Leveraging Private Funding Sources
Each of the topics will be explored through speakers, workshops, roundtable discussions, and professional development courses.

For additional information on the summit and a detailed schedule visit http://www.iedcevents.org/LeadershipSummit/.

The International Economic Development Council is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to helping economic developers do their job more effectively and raising the profile of the profession. Building strong, sustainable communities is an endeavor requiring innovative strategies, tools, and techniques, and IEDC programs and services have been developed accordingly. These services include educational courses and web seminars, four conferences per year, weekly newsletters, a quarterly economic development journal, economic developer certifications, legislative tracking, and technical assistance to communities. IEDC members represent the entire range of the economic development experience including regional, state, county, and city economic development organizations; chambers of commerce and other business support agencies; community and neighborhood development organizations; technology development agencies; utility companies; educational institutions; consultants; and redevelopment authorities.

The Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership was formed in 2006 to help build a globally competitive economy in Northeast Indiana. It is a public-private partnership focused on generating business leads and building regional capacity through product development and effective regional collaboration. The Northeast Indiana Fund (Fund) was created in 2005 to operate as a supporting organization of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, focused specifically on product development and regional collaboration. In 2010, the Partnership launched Vision 2020 to bring the region together around five key areas for economic growth: 21st Century Talent, Competitive Business Climate, Entrepreneurship, Infrastructure and Quality of Life. Through its combined efforts in business development and capacity building, the Partnership supports its 10 member counties: Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties.
