A local call center is creating 500 new jobs and doubling its leased office space.
Intelenet Global Services on Tuesday announced plans to triple its Fort Wayne workforce to at least 750. The company's strategic plan calls for eventually employing 1,200 to 1,500 here.
Intelenet will spend at least $4 million to remodel 38,000 square feet at 5001 U.S. Highway 30, said Rick Farrant, Northeast Indiana Works spokesman. Expenses will include upgraded IT infrastructure. The company's previous footprint was 19,000 square feet in the same building.
Pay for entry-level call center positions will average about $23,500 annually. Managers will make about $30,000 a year, according to a Northeast Indiana Works news release. The nonprofit's WorkOne Northeast career centers are screening job applicants. Vijay Reddy, Intelenet's chief operating officer, said the company has been satisfied with the quality of local workers.
“This facility has played a key role in our operations since it was opened in 2014, and we are now in the process of expanding its infrastructure to meet increasing customer demand,” he said in a statement.
Intelenet, which is backed by private equity firm The Blackstone Group, employs about 55,000 worldwide. The outsourcing company serves more than 110 corporate clients in the banking, health care, telecom, retail, travel and hospitality sectors.
Examples of Intelenet services include payment processing, loan processing, inventory management, insurance premium underwriting, medical coding, market research, financial planning and budgeting.
Fort Wayne is the company's North American headquarters. Its corporate headquarters is in Mumbai, India.
“As the world becomes more digitally connected, our Fort Wayne delivery center, along with more than 70 other centers we operate worldwide, are critical to providing the growing requirements of various industries in need of business process services,” Reddy said.
“We envision that both Intelenet and the city of Fort Wayne will benefit greatly as we work closely together to continue to make this facility a shining example of an ongoing and highly productive partnership,” he added.
