Officials Want Input on Next Name For IPFW
By Dan McGowan | Inside INdiana Business
IPFW and Purdue University are seeking feedback on the name the school will carry following its realignment next year. The online survey includes two potential names, but accepts additional suggestions.
Following the transition, Purdue will retain the bulk of the programs on the campus remaining "a comprehensive university," while Indiana University will maintain its presence in Fort Wayne through its life sciences programs.
In a statement, an IU spokeswoman said "Indiana University has other academic medical/health sciences centers across the state so the naming convention will be similar to those locations."
The schools agreed last year to break from the dual-institutional setup of IPFW for the last 50-plus years.
The survey from IPFW and Purdue leadership runs through noon on February 23. Ultimately, Purdue's Board of Trustees will ultimately determine the final selection at a later time. The two suggested on the survey are: Purdue University Fort Wayne or Purdue University Northeast. You can connect to the survey by clicking here.
