Plans filed for mixed-use development along Fort Wayne’s riverfront

The public will soon get a closer look at a nearly $62 million project its developer now calls HIVE – the mixed-use development forming one anchor of riverfront development in Fort Wayne.
Riverview FW LLC has filed the project's primary development plan. It will have a public hearing Nov. 5 in front of the Fort Wayne Plan Commission.
The Wayzata, Minnesota, company, a spin-off of Continental Property Group, has submitted a site plan that shows an unusual configuration – apartments and retail space wrapped around a central parking garage in what is apparently the same structure.
As originally proposed, the garage would have space for 1,000 cars. Submitted plans show the garage would be entered from, and exited onto, Calhoun Street, but the number of spaces could not be determined from the filed plans.
The development's address is listed as 124 W. Superior and 412 S. Calhoun St. and the site stretches roughly from Calhoun to South Harrison Street.
About 150 apartments on five floors are planned, as is a 13,000-square-foot deck with a pool on the east side of the building. About 20,000 feet of retail space will occupy the ground level.
The total space is more than 555,000 square feet, according to the application.
When the project was proposed, it was hoped to be under construction by this spring, but that timeline has been pushed back.
The hearing will take place at 4:30 p.m. in Room 35 of Citizens Square.
