Project to connect Embassy, Botanical Conservatory breaks ground
The Botanical Conservatory and the Embassy Theatre will soon be connected.
Officials including Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry on Tuesday broke ground on a connection between the two popular downtown Fort Wayne attractions. The project plans for a glass-walled, ground-level passageway that will link the Conservatory lobby to the lower level of the Embassy Theatre.
The $560,240 connection will allow guests to park in covered parking garages nearby and access the attractions under cover.
"With events happening all year long in the Conservatory, we wanted to give citizens a way to visit without having to brave the elements, and this project will do that," said Fort Wayne Parks Director Steve McDaniel.
Henry said the project should allow visitors and residents to "get the most out of their time in the heart of our city."
