Riverfront seating inspires art project

FORT WAYNE, Ind.-

Benches that will be installed along the downtown RiverGreenway in June were revealed at the Fort4Fittness Spring Cycle Saturday.

The project was a partnership between the City of Fort Wayne and Artlink Contemporary Gallery. Local artists were asked to transform ten former Citilink bus stop benches into attractive, functional works of public art.

One artist said he was inspired by Fort Wayne’s skyline.

“I want to create the sunset bench because we have some of the most beautiful sunsets anywhere in  Indiana over our city’s skyline to the west,” Kelly Bremer said.

Bremer said he worked on his bench off and on for about five months.
