STEM conference for girls planned May 20

Fort Wayne Community Schools and the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana will host the fourth annual STEM Conference for Girls for girls in kindergarten through grade 12 on May 20 at Snider High School, 4600 Fairlawn Pass.

Young women in middle school and high school can learn more about careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from 8 a.m. to noon, an event news release said. Then girls in kindergarten through grade 12 can explore STEM exhibits and interactive activities from 1 to 4 p.m.

Hannah Strong, a meteorologist for WANE, Channel 15, will be keynote speaker for the event.

Cost to attend is $2 per student and includes a Girl Scouts membership, the news release said. Students can register at their school through Monday.
