Tolon, The Golden aim for James Beard award

December 2nd, 2016

By WANE

Two downtown Fort Wayne restaurants hope to contend for a prestigious national award.

The James Beard Foundation Awards are annual awards presented by the James Beard Foundation for excellence in cuisine, culinary writing and culinary education in the United States.

Tolon on South Harrison Street and The Golden within the Ash Skyline Plaza are both eligible for awards including Best New Restaurant and Best Chef Great Lakes. The restaurants must be nominated.

“Fort Wayne is up and coming and a trend setter and we do have something to offer to the culinary world as well as the arts and everything else that is happening in our community,” said Tolon owner Matthew Nolot.

Nominations must be received by midnight Thursday.

The 2017 James Beard Awards Gala will be held Monday, May 1. Nominees will be announced March 15.
