Tower International will seek a tax incentive on new investment in its Auburn plant, Mayor Norm Yoder said Wednesday.
The company is asking to phase in property taxes on a $6.5 million investment in robotic assembly cells at its auto-parts factory on West 15th St.
Tower’s application says the investment will allow it to add 40 jobs to its existing roster of 124 employees. The 40 new employees would represent a payroll addition of $1.5 million.
Yoder reported on Tower’s plans at Wednesday night’s meeting of the Auburn Common Council. A council committee will discuss the application in a meeting Jan. 15 at 5 p.m. in City Hall, before the 6 p.m. meeting of the full council.
