Trine Breaks Ground on Science Building Addition

Alex Brown | Inside INdiana Business

Trine University broke ground Friday on a $6.6 million, 26,000 square-foot addition to its Best Hall of Science. In addition, the university has named its school of health sciences after the man whose gift allowed for the expansion.

The school will officially be known as the Rinker-Ross School of Health Sciences. Trine alumnus James Rinker donated a $2.5 million gift to the university for the addition to Best Hall.

The expansion will add seven biology, chemistry and multipurpose laboratories, 12 offices and group study spaces. It will also feature 140 new parking spaces, which are currently under construction.

"Learning takes all forms here at Trine University: Whether it’s engineering, whether it’s business, education, arts and science or health sciences, our students go beyond the classrooms and labs and have daily opportunities to breathe life into the knowledge and skills that they’re developing," said Trine President Earl Brooks. "Regardless of the major or the background or the discipline, every student at Trine University passes through this facility."

The expansion is expected to be completed in January 2017.
