ANGOLA -

Trine University set a record at its annual scholarship gala fundraising event. The university raised $742,000 through an auction and sponsorships.

More than $24 million in institutional aid has been provided to students during this academic year, according to the university.

"The kindness and generosity of our friends and supporters continues to amaze and impress us each year," said Earl Brooks, Trine president. "We are grateful for the huge financial support shown to our students because this money is used to fund scholarships."

Some of the times up for auction at the event included an autographed Peyton Manning Colts jersey, a New York Yankees game package and resort vacation packages, among others. Even the tie Brooks' was wearing at the event was auctioned off, along with the tie of board chair Rick James.
