Trine Teaming With Manufacturer

Trine University is partnering with a Fort Wayne safety guarding manufacturer to provide students with hands-on learning opportunities. The collaboration will allow engineering students to help create machine guards specifically designed for Faztek's customers.

Through the partnership, Faztek will upload information about a customer order to an online portal. Students can take on the individual projects and work independently to create a 3D mockup of a product. From there, the design goes to Faztek associates for feedback.

The school calls the relationship "mutually beneficial," saying students gain real-world experience working on customer projects and earn money for completed projects, while Faztek can complete custom design projects more quickly.

In a release from Trine, Chair of Design Engineering Technology Thomas Trusty said, "The Design Engineering Technology students have greatly benefited from the partnership with Faztek by having opportunities to earn income and work over 650 hours on real industrial design projects as they complete their undergraduate degrees. The industry experience gained from this opportunity is one of the many reasons students at Trine University are highly regarded as ready to contribute immediately when they start their careers as they complete their undergraduate degrees."

Faztek Chief Operating Officer Aaron McDevitt says the partnership has been "incredibly helpful in terms of productivity."
