USF Launches Museum Studies Program

FORT WAYNE -

The University of Saint Francis School of Creative Arts has unveiled a partnership with the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. The collaboration involves a new four-year degree program in museum studies.

USF says the program is one of only two such degree programs in the nation. The school says museum studies will mix professional training with liberal arts education and prepare students for jobs in many types of museums. The program includes museum work experience, which is often required for entry-level jobs in the industry.

The university says the partnership will give students the opportunity for project-based learning involving practicum and academic courses designed to give them the theoretical background and knowledge needed to enter the museum profession. USF says students will be able to apply the knowledge and skills learned in "a variety of disciplines."

The University of Saint Francis is now enrolling students in the new program.
