FORT WAYNE (21Alive) - Most of us have heard the name and maybe wondered about the company behind the name. Hotel Fitness has been around for 20 years, but with local businessman Bruce Dye now at the helm, the company is poised to grow it's business and reinvest in the community like never before. "Your Story Made Here" looks at how Hotel Fitness is out to improve the health of travellers, employees and the city we call home.
If you've ever worked out in the fitness facility of a hotel, you may have used a treadmill, elliptical or bike put there by Hotel Fitness. Bruce Dye says: "The good news is the travelling public wants fitness in their lives and if they are travelling, they have to find it somewhere."
But it's not just hotels anymore. And that is one reason Dye has created an umbrella company called "Brigadoon Fitness" since the company now installs in businesses, apartment complexes and even schools. They do about one thousand installations every year.
The company currently has 25 employees and they are the heart of the company's growing success:
Bruce Dye says: "As with any business nowadays, customer service is paramount and you have to have people for that. Technology....you can do a certain amount in terms of being efficient but you still have to have friendly, detail oriented people".
The equipment manufactured for Hotel Fitness is the high-quality and energy efficient "Green Series" and the company services what it sells. Again, with a high value placed on customer service. The formula is working for the company, which has been growing rapidly since Dye bought it two years ago.
Bruce Dye says, "we anticipate over the next 2 years, well 5 years, going from roughly 5 million dollars a year to...it could easily be a number of 20 million dollars a year. I mean, that's the opportunity that's there. It's just a matter of how you scale it and get committed to growing it.
And speaking of growing, you may have noticed a large building along I-69 near the Lima Rd. Exit. That is the new headquarters and global distribution center for Brigadoon and Hotel Fitness. Operations will move into the 70 thousand square foot building in mid-september.
Bruce Dye is committed to bringing fitness and good health to his customers...but also to the health of our community. He has re-invested in the area in countless ways including involvement in the Children's Hope House, The Evan's Scholar program, the Three Rivers Festival and of course the Hotel Fitness golf championship which begins this Thursday.
Bruce Dye says; "I've been blessed so if we can do it...and we can...and we are...and we will continue".
